NEXT STEPS

Thank you to all our volunteers that helped make this past weekend such as successful evaluation expo! We could not pull off such a great event without the hard work and dedication of all our parents that stepped up to helped, and even those that went above and beyond to ensure Saturday's success!

Parents and Players, thank you for taking the time out, especially on such a gorgeous Saturday to come in and join in on all the fun and excitement.

Next Steps:

Coaches Meeting & Player Draft (Head Coach & 1 Assistant Coach Attend ONLY)

(coaches will then leave with the players uniforms in hand to pass out at the 1st practice)

Please be on the lookout towards the end of the month, for communication from the Coaches that your player has been selected to play for!

After that - Its time to PLAY BALL! Schedules will be posted and we hope that the weather will be forever in our favor :-)

June TBD: Summer Jamboree- Team Pictures

July 1st through July 4th: No baseball practice or games due to US Independence holiday

July TBD: End of season tournament for all ages. If rained out, games will be moved to Sunday July 17th.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There will be several volunteer opportunities offered throughout the baseball season.  Here are a list of options and how to claim them:

1.  Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager:
There are only 4 adult per team that can have these titles.  If you are chosen as one of the 4 adults, you will receive enough credits to cover 2 children worth of volunteer time.  Your volunteer check will be shredded for up to 2 children.

2.  Evaluation/Expo Volunteer:
There will be several volunteer opportunities available on April 8, 2017 for our Evaluation and Expo day.  An email will go out closer to the date to announce these open positions.  Remember, each child registered needs 6 credits.  To complete your volunteer hours on this day, you would need to volunteer for 2 time slots per child.  You can find these available on the "Dibs" Tab at the top of the Chaska Baseball Website.

3.  Concession Stand Volunteers:
There will be several available volunteer opportunities throughout the baseball season to work at our concession stand.  This is not a money maker for our league, however, it is a service we provide to parents and children who may not have enough time to get water, sports drinks, or even dinner before or after the game.  You can find these available on the "Dibs" Tab at the top of the Chaska Baseball Website.

4.  Other:
Occasionally we offer other volunteer opportunities, however, do not count on this occurring.  Please volunteer for those items mentioned above.

Cancellations Due To Weather

Current day weather cancellations will be posted on the Chaska Baseball Association home page around 4:00 PM (if the city closes the fields).  We will send a mass email out to the entire association as well.

After 4:00 PM if the city of Chaska has not closed fields, it is up to the coaches/umpire to determine if the practice/game should be held.

Coaches can use their team page to send an email to their teams if necessary.

If no notification is sent out, assume the practice or game is still on.

Rookies

6, 7, & 8 Year Olds

Designed primarily for 7 & 8 year olds (6 year olds may try out, however, if they score too low on the evaluations the parent(s) may be contacted-this rarely happens).  This league is coach pitch.   By having a coach pitch to the batters, there is more action at the plate and in the field.  Fear of being hit by a pitched ball is diminished.  It makes the game safer and improves the playing confidence and ability of all participants.   It removes the boredom - which is often the result of either overpowering or inadequate pitching - by throwing only strikes.  Fewer errors and greater throwing accuracy are the result of increase in activity.  The program receives high praise from coaches, players, parents, and league officials.  The rookie league is an excellent way to continue teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence.  Within this league we offer a Summer Jamboree and an End of Season Tournament Experience.

Minors

9/10 Year Olds

Recommended for 9 and 10 year olds (8 year olds are able to sign up to "play up" on the registration page, however, if they score too low on evaluations a parent may be called). Among teammates of their own age and experience level, players continue building and refining their fundamental skills while they begin to understand game strategy.  It is at the minor league level that players first experience being pitched to by another player as well as post-season tournament competition.  This league offers a Summer Jamboree and an End of Year Tournament experience.
