All teams should tentatively reserve July 13-15 and July 27-29 for state tournament participation. If the team qualifies in one of the tournaments above, the team and coaches will decide if they will participate in one or both of the state tournaments. 3 of our 4 teams qualified in 2011.
For players that are looking for an opportunity to receive a more competitive experience that settles between our local Cal Ripken recreation league and the time-intensive Metro Baseball League, Chaska Baseball Association (CBA) is proud to offer a tournament team option as well. This program is for players that are enrolled in our Cal Ripken league that would also like to compete in weekend tournaments.
Candidates for the tournament teams will be based upon the evaluation results from the Cal Ripken evaluation process as well as from potential nominations from Cal Ripken coaches. The teams will be formed from a cross-section of players that are enrolled in the Cal Ripken program, after the Cal Ripken teams have been created.
The current 2012 plan is to have four tournament teams;
• Chaska Hawks 10 A Purple (will compete in MBT 10 A tournaments)
• Chaska Hawks 10 A Gold (will compete in different MBT 10 A tournaments than the Purple team)
• Chaska Hawks 11 A (will compete in MBT 11 A tournaments)
• Chaska Hawks 12 A (will compete in MBT 12 A tournaments)
All tournaments will occur on weekends in May or June (dates TBD). The intent is to provide each team an opportunity for one 1 travel (overnight stay) tournament with the remainder being Metro-area tournaments. These tournaments are all sanctioned by at least the Minnesota Baseball Tournaments (MBT) association, so they are qualifier events for the MBT Minnesota State tournament as well (they may also be qualifiers for the MYAS tournaments too).
Players interested in the tournament team program must first enroll in our Cal Ripken league. To indicate interest in participating on a tournament team, please choose the option on the league registration page.
Program Fee: (TBD after passing of 2012 budget)
We follow the same birth date ranges that are required by the Minnesota Baseball Tournament (MBT) association.
To play:
10A tournaments - Birthday on or after May 1, 2001
11A tournaments - Birthday on or after May 1, 2000
12A tournaments - Birthday on or after May 1, 1999
The intent is that players participating in our Cal Ripken 9/10 division (Minors) make up our Purple and Gold teams and that players in the 11/12 (Majors) make up our 11 A and 12 A teams.
